Every year thousands of teens develop eating disorders. Many of those teens do not realize they have a disorder until it is too late. Eating disorders are defined as the lack of eating enough food or eating too much at one time.
There are several types of Eating Disorders, however the three most common are Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating. All of these are serious and all of these, if not treated by a medical professional, can result in serious health problems....even death.
Anorexia Nervosa - Often referred to as self-starvation, which results in drastic life-threatening weightloss.
Bulimia Nervosa - People with bulimia regularly consume excessive amounts of food followed by efforts to rid the body of that food. This may be done by vomiting, overdose of laxitives, excessive excercise and fasting.
Binge Eating - A disorder where you consume an unusually large amount of food, several times more often done in secret.
If you, or someone you know, shows any of these behaviors , seek medical help as soon as possible. Being Anorexic, Bulimic or a Binge eater usually does not get better by itself and will get worse if left untreated.
